Hiroshima is a city in Japan, precisely in the western part of Hiroshima Prefecture, the southern part of the Chugoku region, southwest of the island of Honshu. In the past it was the capital city of Aki Province and is now the capital of Hiroshima Prefecture. The United States dropped atomic bombs on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan, in August 1945, the final stage of the Second World War. The United States drops bombs with the approval of the United Kingdom as stated in the Quebec Agreement.
